In September 2001, the eighth Machine Translation Summit will be held in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain.
The MT Summit brings together the global machine translation (MT) community-representatives of institutions and corporate entities as well as individuals-to review the state of machine translation and computer-aided translation support tools in the world, both commercially and in research. Because of its large attendance and high profile, it brings an international spotlight to this important and expanding technology, it encourages public involvement, and it creates the overall basis for future continuing development of the industry worldwide. The Summit provides both a showcase for the latest commercial and research developments in MT and translation support tools and a forum for users, developers and researchers to examine the rapidly changing needs in both the public and private sectors.
The European Association for Machine Translation (EAMT) is organizing the event with the cooperation of the
Xunta of Galicia,
Instituto Cervantes, and the
European Commission on behalf of
the International Association for Machine Translation (IAMT).
